The ArcGIS Military Analyst extension incorporates a suite of tools tailored to meet the special needs of the defense and intelligence user. The software significantly enhances the effectiveness of core ArcGIS as a tool set foundation for the military planner and intelligence analyst. ArcGIS Military Analyst maximizes the use of the standard suite of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) data products by allowing direct use and rendering of NGA's vector and raster products, line of sight (LOS) assessments, Military Grid Reference System (MGRS) conversion, and Digital Terrain Elevation Data (DTED) analysis. ArcGIS Military Analyst also includes the Military Overlay Editor (MOLE), which supports MIL-STD 2525B and custom war fighting symbologies. With ArcGIS Military Analyst you can: - Exploit NGA raster, vector, and DTED data.
- Easily create order of battle symbology.
- Quickly display and hillshade DTED data.
- Quickly and easily display Vector Product Format (VPF) data.
- Generate multipoint view sheds.
- Conduct visibility analyses.
ArcGIS already meets the demands of today's collaborative defense environment for data-centric, reusable, and inherently scalable systems. Combined with the release of the ArcGIS Military Analyst extension, the ArcGIS platform now provides the foundation for data-centric command, control, and intelligence (C2I) systems. GIS Tools for the Defense and Intelligence Communities ArcGIS Military Analyst is designed to provide easier access and usability for NGA raster, vector, and elevation data. ArcGIS Military Analyst offers full customization using COM interfaces, on-the-fly projection of raster and vector data, and a suite of productivity tools including: - Raster Map tool
- Vector Map tool
- DTED tool
- Coordinate tool
- Terrain tools
- MOLE
These tools allow the analyst to focus on analysis and not on managing data. Features include DTED merge, directly read VPF, threat dome generation, line of sight and viewshed analyses, and MIL-STD 2525B symbology. Data Sources ArcGIS Military Analyst can be used with any of the data sources supported by ArcGIS Desktop products (ArcInfo, ArcEditor, ArcView). This includes ArcInfo coverages; shapefiles; computer-aided design (CAD), VPF, TIFF, JPEG, BMP, SunRaster, USGS, DEM, DTM, NGA DTED, generic ASCII, and MrSID files; and ArcGIS themes created from tabular data. Developer Tools ArcGIS Military Analyst tools can also be accessed through Microsoft VBA, which is included with ArcGIS. ArcGIS Military Analyst can be customized with any COM-compliant language, allowing you to build new applications that deliver highly sophisticated military solutions, especially when combined with the optional ArcGIS Spatial Analyst and ArcGIS 3D Analyst extensions. Why Use ArcGIS Military Analyst? GIS technology is a critical and integral part of the information technology infrastructure for defense. GIS provides a framework for the collection, production, archiving, dissemination, and exploitation of information about the earth. Mission planning, logistics, and C2I have spatial relationships. Therefore, the ability to manage and perform analyses of spatial data and its relationships is critical for mission success. ArcGIS Military Analyst is used to: - Create, query, analyze, and display spatial data in real time in a variety of formats.
- Render NGA's vector and raster products.
- Integrate spatial data with other defense relevant data.
- Conduct battlefield planning.
- Create battlefield symbology easily and quickly.
- Analyze digital terrains.
- Conduct line of sight and view-shed assessments.
ArcGIS Military Analyst provides easy access and usability for NGA raster, vector, and elevation data. It provides focused basic military tools that allow the user to concentrate on specific analysis rather than managing data files. Who Uses ArcGIS Military Analyst? ArcGIS Military Analyst is tailored to meet the special needs of the defense and the intelligence community. It is used around the world by people in defense and intelligence organizations including: - Military planners
- Intelligence analysts
- Defense mapping agencies
